FBF Challenge: SUPER GREEN SMOOTHIES

The craze finally got me! The juicing/super smoothie phenomena has found its way to my kitchen and into my diet! I was never drawn to the idea of “drinking” my food (if I could eat it instead), but my parents recently bought a Nutribullet Extracting Blender and raved about it! Luckily, they got me one too! They are too sweet!

This blender is different from a juicer in that it retains all the skins, seeds, and pulp of the veggies and fruits that you put into and extracts the vital nutrients, rather than just squeezing out the liquid. This blender can withstand whole fruits, veggies, nuts, and seeds! It can also make soups, dips, and sauces. This machine is legit!

So for the Going Green…Smoothie Style! Challenge, I pledge to have a super green whole-food smoothie every morning for breakfast for one month! From now until March 11th, I will post my smoothie of the day and I hope you join in! The combinations might get kinda crazy but it’s all in good health!

DAY #1: “There’s a First for Everything” Super Green Smoothie

2 cups Spinach
1 apple (cored and sliced)
1 kiwi (sliced)
1/2 avocado (peeled and seeded)
A handful of chopped walnuts
Coconut water to the max line (1/2 c)

adding the coconut water; regular water is perfectly fine but the coconut water adds extra potassium!

Bottoms Up!

FIRST TASTE: I can definitely taste the spinach, then the walnuts, then the kiwi. Avocado added creaminess. To sweeten, I may add a banana next time. 🙂

Cheers! xoxo FBF
